This is not your average warrior chick tale. Although Irisi, the title character, has an over-the-top success rate as a female fighter in a man's world, men get their due as well. Particularly in the case of her captor and later love, he is clearly a fine counterpart as a fighter, partner and leader in his own right. He fits well with her in every way. These characters are not one-dimensional as in so many action/fantasy stories. The good guys are good for a reason. The bad guys are ever so bad, and all characters have dimension and depth.

Irish Fling 

Love on the Bookshelf - Stephanie Haddad - In this every-girl's-fantasy type of story, a chance encounter leads Ali into the arms of her hunky, Irish-accent-wielding fling: Aidan. These two make lots of heat between them, sizzling right off the page (or the eReader screen, as it were.) 

Melissa's Eclectic Bookshelf - All in all, a fun quick read...a really believable love story and an entertaining way to pass a rainy day.

This is the very first book I have read by the author, Valerie Douglas...and I can definitely say that it won't be the last. Nike's Wings was so beyond what I was expecting that I am still feeling breathless from the sheer excitement that the story produced in me.
